Tea Time with Dimity from Dimmy Tea Co.

Tea Time with Dimity from Dimmy Tea Co.

Question & Tea Time couldn't get any better than with Tea Creator Dimity Betts!

Where did your passion for cooking and gourmet food come from?

Oh! I've always loved cooking. I remember even in primary school, or maybe earlier, I was always helping Mum in the kitchen or trying to make gourmet meals myself. Come Christmas I'd have my family patiently waiting while I 'whipped' up 6 course degustation hahah!

Needless to say I do keep things slightly simpler in the kitchen these days! I think my passion really started as my parents were Poultry farmers-weekends and school holidays I'd be the first to offer to tag along and help out at the farmer's markets all over the state. I loved walking around checking out all the amazing products people had on offer.

What's the ethos behind your range?

I make all my teas in small batch to keep the quality really high and to allow for seasonal variances in flavours. I love taking in the aromas of the different blends and adjusting accordingly.

My chai blends are slightly spicier in winter!! I also use organic whenever its available and never add sugar, flavours or anything artificial, as I think it's important to take care of our health and not to compromise just to get a longer shelf life, for example. And, I prioritise eco-friendly packaging using recyclable, compostable or reusable whenever possible. It's the little things!

How did you come up with the name for your business?

That one's easy! Dimmy Tea co. is a complete play on words from my first name Dimity.

It was my brother's idea and it just stuck!

What do you love about where you live?

We're in Moonbi, and not only is it beautiful-we look out to the Moonbi Ranges and the sunrises and sunsets are amazing, but being a small villlage it's such a friendly place! Everyone waves when driving past each other, a trip to the post office doubles as a catch-up chat, and everyone says hello or gives you the friendly nod. It's also a great place for our kids, we are surrounded by space and fresh air, there's so much to appreciate!

Why are you happy to collaborate with Country Culture?

Country Culture is the epitome of gourmet in Australia, an amazing showcase of small business, rural makers and creators. It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase Dimmy Tea co. products to a wide audience, especially city dwellers as well as to the coast and bush.?
